Scope of work
NPI process planning & scheduling
We design a structured NPI plan covering all key phases - engineering validation build (EVT), design validation build (DVT), production validation build (PVT) and mass production (MP) entry - with clear milestones, entry and exit criteria and resource allocation at each stage.
Factory selection & engagement
We identify and engage the right China-side manufacturers for your product. Their factory capability, quality systems and capacity will be assessed against your requirements before committing to a production partner.
Pilot build coordination
We plan and coordinate initial pilot builds with the factory - manage tooling readiness, component availability, build sequences and communication between your team and the China-side production team - to produce the first manufactured units and establish a process baseline.
Process debugging & optimisation
Working alongside the factory, we systematically identify and drive resolution of manufacturing process issues surfaced during pilot builds to establish a stable, repeatable process before volume ramp. This covers assembly sequence, tooling fit, process parameters and yield performance.
Quality control framework oversight
We work with the factory to ensure the quality control framework required for volume production is properly implemented, including incoming material inspection criteria, in-process checkpoints, GRR (Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility and final product acceptance standards aligned with your specifications.
Ok2Fab & Ok2Test sign-offs
We manage the formal approval gates - Ok2Fab (approval to begin fabrication) and Ok2Test (approval to begin testing) - that confirm each production phase has met the required standards before proceeding, protecting both quality and schedule.
Production ramp-up oversight
We oversee the step-by-step increase in production capacity at the factory, like tracking yield rates, cycle times, and output quality at each volume increment, to ensure the line achieves stable, target-rate production without compromising quality.
End-to-end programme management for on-time, on-spec, on-budget delivery
We provide full programme management oversight of the production launch, acting as your single point of accountability across engineering, factory and supply chain. We track progress against plan, escalate and resolve issues, and maintain a clear line of responsibility from pilot build to first volume shipment.
For best results, NPI and Production Launch should be preceded by a Product Risk and Manufacturability Assessment and supported throughout by our Technical Programme Management service.
